The joy of over-advertisement. Isn’t it a beautiful sight to see all these colorful flags that desire our attention? Don’t we feel flattered? A self-financing art project; it needs no other funds for its existence. Its existence is finance, actually. Like renewable energy. A perfect circle.
Or is it also something else? A critique? Everything ironic is in some way a critique, so our eyes and minds are warned in the sight of it. A simple reading won’t do. Just like the mind is triggered when we see advertisement; is it a different way of triggering than art does? How do we make the difference between advertisement and art? What does it want from us?
